Infection Control
RMCHCS strives to provide quality patient care in a safe and caring environment. Hand washing is one of the most basic and proven methods for preventing the spread of disease. Whether one is a patient at RMCHCS or has medical procedures done elsewhere, always insist on proper hand washing for protection.
There are a number of ways to reduce contracting and spreading respiratory illnesses like the flu.
These include:
Hand washing. Wash hands frequently using soap and water, especially after coughing, sneezing or using commonly shared items in the home or workplace.
Covering mouth and nose. Use a tissue to cover the mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing. Ask others to do the same.
Avoid touching the eyes, nose and mouth. Germs often are spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then touches his/her eyes, nose or mouth.
Limiting close contact. Limit contact with people who are sick. And, when you are sick, keep a distance from others as well.
